Hypix Media, Inc. is owned and operated by Scott and Ptolemy Runkel at their studio in West Linn, Oregon (just outside Portland). The company's roots lie in the Runkels' previous, individual sole proprietorships: Scott specialized in programming CD-ROMs and Ptolemy designed web sites and multimedia. In order to offer their clients a complete package under one roof, they created Hypix.

Scott Runkel — Director of Technology

Scott holds a bachelor's degree in artificial intelligence computer programming and creative writing from Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass. His professional experience includes work as a writer, editor, retirement communications specialist, project manager, graphic designer, systems manager, digital video editor, multimedia developer, and programmer. Since 1995, he has specialized in advanced Macromedia Director programming. Scott creates efficient multimedia applications employing the latest technologies.

Ptolemy Runkel — Creative Director

Ptolemy holds a bachelor's degree in cognitive psychology from Hampshire College in Amherst, Mass. She worked in market research before finding her true passion in graphic design as the World Wide Web exploded in 1995. She specializes in web site design and production, and interface design for multimedia CD-ROMs. Ptolemy's background in psychology and experimental design is an ideal complement to her artistic abilities, allowing her to create orderly, easy-to-use interfaces; clean, attractive graphics; and a superior user experience.

Karl Baumann — Business Development Manager, CME Solutions

Karl holds a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University in Telecommunications. From 1988 through 2005 he worked for a number of educational technology publishing companies including AIMS Multimedia, the National Geographic Society and TurnLeaf/McGraw-Hill. In 2005 he joined EBSCO Publishing/Biomedical where he worked directly with doctors, nurses, medical librarians and related health care providers to deliver and implement medical and patient resources. These included customized CME, secure online evidence-based research databases, point of care applications and hospital patient records management tools.
In 2008 Karl became Business Development Manager for Hypix and provides the best customer service and satisfaction to all Hypix member medical association professionals.

As a full-service multimedia and web company, Hypix handles project strategy, concepting, management, design, and programming in-house. When needs or time frame demand, we use excellent local talent and specialty services. Examples include: writers, voiceover talent, artists, musicians, testing facilities, duplication houses, printers, and video technicians.

To maintain our strict quality control and superior customer service, all project management is performed in-house. By calling upon additional team members only as we need them -- instead of maintaining them as full-time staff -- we reduce our overhead and pass the savings along to you.
